Senarai Impian

1. Salina – A. Samad Said (got it from Radz who bought it in JB)
2. Hujan Pagi – A. Samad Said
3. Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck – Hamka
4. Badai Semalam – Khadijah Hashim
5. Langit Petang – A. Samad Said
6. Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan – Shahnon Ahmad
7. Seorang Tua di Kaki Gunung – Azizi Haji Abdullah
8. Laila Majnun – Hamka
9. Siti Nurbaya – Marah Rusli (the photocopy version I own is not counted, ok?)

p/s: I know I have no shame asking for these books; but Mama, please don’t buy me another baju kurung would you?

  1. Dear,

Tambah lagi satu ‘Tungku Rao’ Hamka
    ‘Hikayat Faridah Hanum’ -S.S.AlHadi
    ‘Putra Gunung Tahan’ –
    Cubalah terjemah Siti Nurbaya tu.
I pass you the ‘mind connection’
    Bolehlah dear.

  2. Dear M’am,

I remember back then when I first encountered a novel by Khadijah Hashim entitled Jalan Ke Kubur and then later Senator Adila so from that moment on, I kept lookin’ for her books. Badai Semalam is cool.

And my gosh, Tenggelamnya Kapal Van De Wijck by Hamka is one of the greatest ever. You’ll be hooked in no time at all. Since I was in school my parents kept telling me about Hamka. Furthermore, I’ve always loved Azizi Haji Abdullah and his Ayahanda made me cried. You can tell he likes to dig into senior citizen’s inner feeling and such. Its kinda difficult tho’ to look for more books like this for I went to Times Square’s Border last Friday and I couldn’t find any decent new copy of Azizi’s.

Cool request for birthday gifts btw..

  3. Hello Cik, buku-buku diatas tidak tersenarai, malas takde langsung dijual kat WH Smith or any other bookshop yang sepelaung dari rumah or tempat kerja saya.

Tetapi…kalau ada buku yang Cik berkenan yang takde dijual kat sana, silalah facebook saya dengan kadar segera, maka bolehlah saya mengkudakan rakan se opis saya.

    Sekian,
    Eskapismalaysia

  4. Chelle,

  5. Nanti lepas dah baca RSP, mailah Kedah. Kita boleh pakat pi Kg. Banggul Derdap. I haven’t read the book and watched the award-winning film by Sarimah. But as I told you, I dah dapat my hadiah harijadi, in advance, he he. Aren’t we the blessed Taureans?

  6. Mich, since we are comparing literature scars, here’s my inputs on your wish list.

    1. Salina – A. Samad Said (got it from Radz who bought it in JB) – completed reading it in 1988. Kino should have it.

    2. Hujan Pagi – A. Samad Said – 1988 – Kino should have it.

    3. Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck – Hamka – 1986. Kino should have it.

    4. Badai Semalam – Khadijah Hashim – 1987. Havent stumbled into a copy. Maybe not in print anymore.

    5. Langit Petang – A. Samad Said – 1990. Kino should have it.

    6. Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan – Shahnon Ahmad – 1987. Kino should have it.

    7. Seorang Tua di Kaki Gunung – Azizi Haji Abdullah – 1986. Havent stumbled into a copy. Maybe not in print anymore.

    8. Laila Majnun – Hamka – Yet to read.

    9. Siti Nurbaya – Marah Rusli – Yet to read.

My mum was a BM Lit teacher previously. The books I have read were reading texts for BM Lit subject during 80s and 90s. And while doing IB, some are reading texts as well. I had wonderful time reading all these classics but i love Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan the most. Heartbreaking and full of human emotions and tragedies.

My wish list? At the moment just three:

    1. Panglima Awang by Harun Aminurrashid – read in while in Standard 2 but never finished it and the only copy our family has was lost;

    2. Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa – read only snippets of it from BM Lit SPM papers;

    3. Sejarah Melayu (Shellabeare version) – I’m done with Tun Sri Lanang’s and Raffles’ versions

    Quid pro quo Mich?
